Following on from his recent nebula-inspired paintings, Mirko Junkovic has produced a new body of contemporary abstract works. Although these new paintings capitalise on some of the bold colour interactions and fluid paint application techniques developed throughout the Nebula Series, we now see him beginning to make broader references to some of the primal elements of our planet’s development. Previous preoccupations with rock formation, fire, vegetation and topography have re-emerged as inspirational starting points. Mirko also explores the more expansive diptych format creating new dynamic relationships between two related canvases.
