A contemporary collection of bold abstract designs by American artist Janet Bothne. Janet has been passionate about the power of colour throughout her life. In 2003 she had the epiphany that color should simply be the subject matter. “I see colour akin to music. It’s no coincidence they both can be described in terms such as soft, loud or bright – they have keys and tones. To put it simply, music is colour for the ears, and colour is music for the eyes.” Born near Boston, Bothne has studied art at the University of MA at Amherst, The Fuller Museum - MA, UCLA, and Brentwood Art Center, CA. She relocated to the Los Angeles area in 1996 and married her computer skills with her artistic eye working as a graphic designer, but her love of painting increasingly nagged. She gave up her job to focus on painting full-time in 2001. Since that time she has exhibited in numerous shows in the U.S. & internationally. She now lives in New Mexico and enjoys painting in the gorgeous light the vast sky there provides.
