A contemporary series of original paintings by Heidi Lichterman inspired by nature. “My paintings are about contrast: the assumed beauty of flowers on the mysterious, sometimes sinister, backgrounds; The dark contrasting sharply with the light; the hard edges contrasting with the translucency and soft contours of the petals; the over-large scale (all the flowers are painted on one metre square canvases). Although the flowers are recognisable, my emphasis is on their abstract qualities.
